Lipedema and Tumescent Liposuction Treatments
Lipedema is a chronic adipose tissue disorder that primarily affects women and is often characterized by painful fat deposits in the legs, arms and other parts of the body. These fat deposits do not respond to traditional methods such as diet or exercise, making lipedema difficult to treat without medical intervention. Tumescent liposuction is ideally suited for people with lipedema because it is a lymphatic-sparing technique. This means that important structures such as lymph vessels and blood vessels remain intact, which is crucial for maintaining proper lymph circulation and minimizing complications.
Tumescent liposuction is much better suited than classic liposuction or liposuction under anesthesia, especially for patients with lipedema, because a larger amount of fat can be removed. This increases the chances that the symptoms will disappear and stay away after treatment. In addition, this method of anesthesia is ideal for lip edema because it is the only method that allows for anesthesia in a controlled and gentle manner, which is of great importance with the often painful lip edema.
